The Indianapolis Colts are not expected to re-sign veteran kicker Matt Stover, according to the Indianapolis Star.

No, it's not because Stover narrowly missed a 51-yard try in the Colts' Super Bowl loss to the New Orleans Saints.

It's primarily because Pro Bowl kicker Adam Vinatieri is under contract and Stover is an unrestricted free agent.

Vinatieri is expected to make a healthy return from his knee and hip surgeries.

Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh didn't rule out the possibility of re-signing Stover when asked recently about the franchise's all-time leading scorer.

However, the Ravens are more likely to stick with Billy Cundiff, who finished the season solidly for Baltimore after the team cut Steve Hauschka.

They'll also likely bring in competition for Cundiff, probably in the form of a promising rookie.
