The Indianapolis Colts auditioned former starting running back Dominic Rhodes today, according to a league source.
Rhodes was signed by the Colts as an undrafted rookie out of Midwestern State in 2001, earning a Super Bowl ring with the team. He has also had stints with the Oakland Raiders and the Buffalo Bills.
Signed to a two-year contract during the offseason by Buffalo, Rhodes was cut on Sept. 5 during the final major roster cutdown.
Last year with the Colts while playing under a one-year, $605,00 deal, he split time with Joseph Addai and gained 538 yards and scored six touchdowns.
For his career, Rhodes has rushed for 3,114 yards and 26 touchdowns.
The Colts, who also tried out quarterback Shane Boyd today, have a couple of roster openings after cutting defensive end Josh Thomas and defensive back Anthony Madison earlier today.
