Cribbs has concussion, Suggs sprains knee Aaron Wilson
CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs was carted off the field after being hit in the throat on the final play of a 16-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was transported to a local hospital for tests involving a potential concussion.
APJoshua Cribbs was transported to the hospital for tests.
“He’s got feeling and movement in all parts of his body,” Browns coach Eric Mangini said.
Ravens defensive end Dwan Edwards decked Cribbs, leaving him prone on the field for a long time.
Several Cleveland reporters asked Edwards if he was seeking revenge after quarerback Brady Quinn’s low block on outside linebacker Terrell Suggs. Suggs left the game with a sprained knee and may be out several weeks.
“It wasn’t retribution,” Edwards said. “I’m definitely not a dirty player. It wasn’t a cheap shot. I’m just playing football.”
Quinn was penalized on the play.
Suggs was wearing a full leg brace and had an electronic stem device attached to his leg. He’s scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam today.
“As of right now, I don’t know,” Harbaugh said. “It’s not one of those catastrophic knee injuries.”
Asked if Quinn’s block was a cheap shot, defensive end Trevor Pryce said: “Read between the lines.”
“Heck yeah it was a cheap shot,” middle linebacker Ray Lewis said. “When you’re running down and you’re looking at the quarterback going at somebody’s knees who doesn’t even have the ball.
"I want to see if he gets the same fine I got or even higher. Now this man is out four or five weeks because of some baloney like that. That’s an illegal blow. I don’t care how you want to look at it.”
Quinn said he wasn't trying to hurt Suggs.
“I was trying to go for the ball carrier,” he said. “Suggs came across at the last second in my vision. I would never wish that upon anyone. I was upset about it on the field.
"We worked out in Arizona together. I couldn’t be any more sorry about that. That was never the intent. I’m sorry to Terrell and the rest of their team.”

Suggs declined to comment on the injury after consulting with a public relations staffer.
“I’m listening to him,” he said. “It’s all right.”
Meanwhile, Ravens reserve safety and special-teams contributor Haruki Nakamura gruesomely broke his right ankle during the opening kickoff.
Because of the nature and timing of the injury, it's expected that Nakamura is out for the remainder of the season and will likely require surgery to repair the damage.
His leg crumpled awkwardly underneath the weight of Browns kick returner and wide receiver Joshua Cribbs, who was inadvertently blocked into Nakamura by tight end L.J. Smith.
Nakamura immediately grabbed his ankle and was clearly in agony while being carted off the field.
“It was pretty stunning,” Harbaugh said. “It didn’t look good and he was in pain out there. We were excited about the way we returned the kick, but that was a little bit of a shocker right there.”
Nakamura is a Cleveland native who was an all-state selection at St. Edward High School in Cleveland.
Nakamura had several family members attending the game as his guests, including his mother, Karen. She visited with him after he suffered the injury.
Nakamura was slated to return with the team. His leg is in a cast.
Ravens inside linebacker Tavares Gooden suffered another concussion and didn’t play for the majority of the second half.
Tight end Todd Heap left the game with a chest injury after taking a shot in the side late in the game, and is expected to undergo a test today.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata missed his second consecutive game due to a sprained right ankle.
Justin Bannan replaced him in the starting lineup again.
Ngata had been a picture of durability, starting the first 55 games of his NFL career before being sidelined Nov. 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ngata was limping during warmups.

The hit on Heap looked like it could have broken some ribs to the back side of him. He still made the tough catch.
