Houston Texans rookie linebacker Brian Cushing is proving to be a quick study.
He was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the team with 10 tacklesand recording the first full sack of his career with one pass deflection and an interception to seal the Texans 31-10 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Cushing was involved with 10 tackles, or 22.2 percent of the team’s tackles on the day.
Meanwhile, the Texans promoted defensive end Jesse Nading to the active roster from the practice squad.
The Texans signed linebacker Marcus Freeman and tight end Dezmond Sherrod to the practice squad.
And tight end Owen Daniels was officially placed on injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
