Oklahoma State wide receiver to work out at Pro Day Aaron Wilson
INDIANAPOLIS -- Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant has chosen not to work out at the NFL scouting combine.
Here's why.
The consensus top-ranked wideout said that he injured his hamstring last week, so he'll forego auditioning for NFL teams until the Cowboys' campus Pro Day workout on March 10.
Bryant was suspended last season for lying to NCAA investigators about his relationship with former NFL player Deion Sanders.
And Bryant said he remains close with Sanders.
"His intention wasn't to hurt me," Bryant said. "I still thank him to this day."
Bryant said he'll be open with NFL teams about the circumstances that led to his suspension.
“Whatever’s asked, I’m going to answer it," he said. "I just tell them I misled the NCAA about going out to Deion Sanders’ house. I apologized for it and I’m back on track and ready to go."
Bryant said he doesn't think the episode will affect his draft status.
“No sir, I don’t think so at all," Bryant said. "But it’s not my call.”
Bryant said that he lied to the NCAA because he panicked.
“I was nervous, the way they came in," Bryant said. "Going out to Deion Sanders’ house wasn’t a violation, but lying was a violation, so I got the punishment. My biggest regret was not telling the truth.
“It was a bad mistake, but I’m a great person. I enjoy the opportunity to make people smile.
I’m good at making people smile. People that know me, they know it was a mistake. They know I’m a fun type of person and I love to have fun.”
Bryant said he thought the punishment was unfair.
“I felt it was kind of harsh, but at the same time, I took it as a man," he said. "There’s nothing I can do about it. Just keep going.”
And Bryant said he's not concerned about being a holdout like Michael Crabtree was last year. They share the same agent, Eugene Parker.
“I looked at Eugene, what type of person he was, checking his background," Bryant said. "Everything was great. He also had the best player in the NFL as one of his players. Larry Fitzgerald."
Will he be at camp on time?
“It will be real important," he said. "To be honest, I can’t wait to get back in pads. Most likely I will be there in camp.”

As Fleetwood Mac would sing "Falling, falling, falling"
Let's see, he missed half the year for NCAA violations, hires the same nudnick agent who f'd up Crabtree's rookie season, costing him millions, and now he's not going to run at the combine. If Eugene Parker owned a funeral home no one would die.
he thought the punishment was unfair.
