The Miami Dolphins cut rookie linebacker J.D. Folsom today, the team announced.
Folsom was drafted by the Dolphins in the seventh round this spring.
Folsom was surprised to be drafted and had already been preparing for a career after football, having been accepted to veterinary school at Oklahoma State and Washington State.
Folsom was waived by the Dolphins during final cuts on September 5 and signed to the practice squad the following day.
He later was added to the active roster and played in one game.
