Veteran NFL running back Edgerrin James has officially signed his one-year, $2 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks, according to his agent.
APJames is heading to Seattle.
"It's official!" James' agent, Drew Rosenhaus announced on his Twitter account. "Congrats to Edgerrin James on signing a 1 year deal with the Seahawks."
The Seahawks cut running back T.J. Duckett to create a roster spot for James, a former Pro Bowl runner with the Indianapolis Colts who was cut by the Arizona Cardinals after last season.
For his career, James has rushed for 12,121 yards and 80 touchdowns. He ranks 11th on the NFL's all-time rushing charts.
Signed to a four-year, $40 million contract in 2006, James rushed for only 2,895 yards in three seasons with the Cardinals.
Regarless, the impact of James' arrival could lead to a reduced workload for Julius Jones.
