Former San Diego Chargers starting strong safety Clinton Hart auditioned for the Cleveland Browns late this week, according to a source close to Hart.

Hart, 32, was cut last week and replaced by rookie Kevin Ellison.

Hart started every game in 2007 for San Diego and recorded a career-high five interceptions and 85 tackles.

Signed to a five-year contract last year, he started 14 games and didn't register an interception.

Hart had some breakdowns in coverage throughout this season before being cut.

For his career, he has posted 10 interceptions and 332 tackles with two touchdowns and two forced fumbles.

The Packers should give him a look. He would be an upgrade over their current backup safties.
