The Jacksonville Jaguars were awarded free agent safety Anthony Smith off waivers from the St. Louis Rams, beating out the Green Bay Packers for his rights.
The former Syracuse standout was signed by the Rams this week and abruptly placed on waivers.
The Jaguars needed some reinforcements for the secondary.
They placed cornerback Scott Starks on injured reserve today with Smith taking over his roster spot.
