When the Cleveland Browns terminated running back Jamal Lewis' contract this week, they didn't indicate why.
According to a league source, Lewis failed his physical.
Lewis dealt with concussion problems during the season, landing on injured reserve for the final four games of the regular season.
Lewis had one year left on his contract and was due a $1.5 million bonus and a $2.4 million base salary in 2010.
In a statement, Lewis thanked the Browns and indicated he was undecided whether he will play again.
"My teammates, the fans, and the community were great," Lewis said. "I plan to evaluate my future and have not made a final determination on whether I will be playing football next season."
