Dick Jauron has reportedly been fired.

Dick JauronAPDick Jauron has been fired from his job as the Buffalo Bills' head coach.

According to NFL.com, the Buffalo Bills have dismissed their head coach.

Per the report, defensive coordinator Perry Fewell is the pick to become the head coach on an interim basis.

Jauron has a record of 24-33 with the Bills and never made the playoffs.

The Bills (3-6) have been drawing criticism with veteran defensive end Aaron Schobel openly wondering what's going on with the organization on Monday.

"It's embarrassing," Schobel said. "I mean, we're technically, mathematically still in it, I guess, but it's like what ... are we doing here?"

Apparently, he wasn't the only one who felt that way with owner Ralph Wilson taking action today to remove Jauron from the equation.

It's hard to say if Jauron's subtraction, though, will trigger any positive change.

UPDATE: Bill owner Ralph Wilson has confirmed the firing to the Buffalo News, but said the team hasn't hired an interim coach yet.

A league source told National Football Post that Wilson caught the team off guard with this decision and that general manager Russ Brandon wasn't initially aware of the development.

Per our source, Wilson has been frustrated with the lack of an explosive passing game despite the presence of wide receivers Terrell Owens and Lee Evans. Our source told us that Wilson has been meeting with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt every Friday to discuss the problems with the offense.

And our source reiterated that no decision has been made yet on an interim coach, so the rudderless Bills have no head coach at this time.

Anyone who is a Bills fan knows that this man had to be removed as head coach of this team. He coached 57 NFL games as Bills head coach and lost 33 of them. This team was going nowhere with Jauron. This move is LONG overdue. Whether the Bills are better off without Jauron for the rest of the season is irrelevant. The next stage has got to be to address their football operations department. If indeed Bills defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, then so be it. I do not care what he does or does not do for the rest of the season. This franchise needed to show their fan base that they were aware of the faults of Jauron and make a move to address the issue. Thank goodness he is gone.

It's about time, now Brandon (GM) needs to follow him out the door. Bring in some real football people and get this team back on track.

As a Redskins fan I can tell you it's never a good sign when the owner meets directly with the coach to discuss game-planning. Might as well get Richard Nixon in there drawing up some plays.
