As expected, Jones will be cut Aaron Wilson
The New York Jets announced today that they will officially release veteran running back Thomas Jones on Friday, the first day of the free agency signing period.
Jones refused to restructure his deal.
Jones' contract has a $3 million roster bonus due on March 9 and a $2.8 million base salary in 2010.
“We have informed Thomas Jones and his representatives that we will release him on March 5,” Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement. “Thomas joined us three years ago and has been a productive, passionate leader both on and off the field who has served as a positive influence for our younger players. We were fortunate to acquire Thomas and wish him the best.”
Jones' tenure with the team will be ending on the heels of a career-high 1,402 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
Jones, 31, wil be replaced by Shonn Greene who will work in tandem with Leon Washington once he recovers from his broken leg.

Wow, The better this guy does the more he gets shafted. All he does is put top tier RB numbers and all they do is hype up the person behind him on the roster. Sorry Thomas, you deserve better and good luck where ever you end up.
