The New York Jets cut veteran cornerback Ahmad Carroll, the team announced today.
Carroll is a former first-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers out of Arkansas.
Signed by the Jets last year, he had played in six games this season with no starts, and was deactivated for the past few games. He has three defensive tackles this season.
He played in all 16 games last season, registering 20 tackles with two forced fumbles.
For his career, Carroll, 26, has registered 127 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions with 17 pass deflections.
His last interception was in 2005 with the Packers.

Initially I was thinking this article's stats should have included a penalty count for Ahmad Carroll. Then I realized having watched most of those plays was already punishment enough for me.
