Veteran free agent quarterback Jim Sorgi, the former backup to Indianapolis Colts star Peyton Manning, is going to work out for the New York Giants on Monday, according to his agent.

So, Sorgi could potentially go from backing up Peyton Manning to Eli Manning.

Matt Brei, who represents Sorgi, just announced that Sorgi is set to audition for the NFC East team.

The Giants could use an experienced backup with David Carr in talks with the San Francisco 49ers.

It was surprising that the Colts cut Sorgi, but he did have an upcoming $275,000 roster bonus. He was also set to make $1.08 million in 2010.

Now, he's in a job-hunting mode.

Sorgi is a former sixth-round Colts draft pick who has played in the NFL for six seasons, completing 99 of 156 passes for 929 yards, six touchdowns and one interception.
