Cribbs' agent complains about Browns' treatment of client Aaron Wilson
Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini said today that the team has zero interest in trading kick returner and wide receiver Josh Cribbs, who has been the subject of swirling trade rumors.
The Browns are also unwilling to grant Cribbs a contract extension, a stance that drew the ire of his agent.
"It is unfair for the Browns to hold Joshua back," J.R. Rickert told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "They should either give him an extension or allow another team to acquire him. Their current position of doing nothing is no longer fair or appropriate.'
Cribbs said that he hasn't requested a trade.
He acknowledged that the uncertainty about his future has been weighing on his mnd.
And if no new deal is struck and he isn't traded?
"I'm going to be stuck,' he said. "I don't know what I'm going to do right now. It will disappoint me tremendously if nothing gets done, and that's no secret. I'll be very disappointed. I play as hard as I can."
Naturally, the Browns have little to no interest in unloading Cribbs.
He's signed to an affordable contract through the 2012 season.
There have been plenty of inquiries, though, as Tuesday's NFL trade deadline approaches.
That includes the San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins.
"You always listen to any offer, but it's all hypothetical, but we have no interest in moving Josh Cribbs," Mangini said. "Josh will be a Cleveland Brown."
