As he awaits his fate while new team president Mike Holmgren contemplates whether to retain or dismiss him, Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini hasn't lost his sense of humor.
When asked if he has any New Year's resolutions, Mangini said he hadn't thought about it.
When asked if he would let the media know when he comes up with one, Mangini replied: "Dear guys, No bus rides to Hartford."
That was a reference to Mangini's 10-hour bus trip to Hartford, Conn., that the Browns' rookies were forced to take to work at his weekend football camp, drawing complaints and criticism from around the league.
Mangini also made a joke about his weight when asked if he was stressed out by being overworked.
“I thought you were going to say overweight," he said. "I was thinking, ‘Accurate, probably the whole staff.'"
As the year ends, Mangini seems to be relaxed, at least outwardly, as he gets set to coach what could be his last game as the Browns' coach. A meeting with Holmgren is expected to take place Monday or Tuesday.
