Not surprisingly since there wasn't a lot of suspense involved in this one, Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini announced today that Brady Quinn is once again the starting quarterback beginning with Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
"He's had good weeks of practice," Mangini said of Quinn. "He's worked hard since the first transition was made. I look forward to him taking advantage of this opportunity and helping us improve.'
Anderson went 1-4. Quinn went 0-3.
"I like to think guys continue to improve throughout the course of the season,' Mangini said. "There are times where I fell like he really knew where to go with the ball. I've seen him make a lot of good decisions. If you make a mistake, you make a mistake.'
Of course, Mangini neglected to mention that the team is now no longer on the hook for Quinn's $10.9 million in escalator clauses since it's impossible for him to take 70 percent of the snaps.
From his standpoint, Quinn is simply happy to be back in the lineup even though it's against the Ravens' traditionally stingy defense.
"I'm excited to play," Quinn said. "I'm excited to be a part of Monday night. Every team in the NFL is tough, them especially. We've got our hands full right now."
