A civil lawsuit has been filed against Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin, alleging that he raped a woman at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino three years ago.

According to the Miami Herald, the lawsuit was filed today in Broward Circuit Court.

At this time, no criminal charges have been filed against the NFL Network analyst. And Irvin's lawyer described the accusations as "totally untrue."

Per the report, prosecutors have been exploring the case and should decided whether to file criminal charges against Irvin by next week.

The unnamed woman is described in the lawsuit as Jane Doe. She alleges that Irvin attacked her in July of 2007.

The woman alleged that Irvin got her drunk and began "stuffing money" into her clothes at his hotel room.

She said Irvin raped here while another man held her down, alleging that she was then made to perform oral sex on the other unidentified man.

Attorney Larry Friedman, who represents Irvin, said Irvin barely knows the alleged woman.

"Beyond, perhaps, meeting her, there was nothing," Friedman said.

Irvin pleaded no contest to a cocaine charge in 1996. He was accused of sexual assault that year, but the woman admitted that she made up the story.

According to a Seminole Tribe spokesman, the woman didn't report the incident until nearly two weeks later. There was no surveillance video or forensic evidence to examine.

The spokesman said that the woman signed a waiver of prosecution.

If that's the case, then this could boil down to the woman's word against Irvin's.

Negotiations for a financial settlement have reportedly stalled, according to the Herald.

Irvin's lawyer said the woman initially asked for $1 million before lowering her demand to $800,000.

The financial settlement offers were refused, though.

"This complaint is tantamount to criminal extortion,' Friedman said. "There is no merit to the complaint."

In fairness to Irvin the allegation isn't proven and perhaps the headline should only mention "allegation" and "civil suit" at this time. Apologies for not reading the piece entirely, errands and others call here.

It may be a money grab but Irvin most likely was doing things he shouldn't be doing. The guy has always been involved in bad behavior. Feels he's intitled to do as he pleases.
