Russell not high on Cabe's list nowadays Aaron Wilson
Benched Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell has just been given a vote of no confidence.
Again.
Ouch.
Raiders coach Tom Cable doesn't seem inclined to reinsert Russell under center even though new starter Bruce Gradkowski is out wiht a torn medial collateral ligament and a partially torn medial collateral ligament.
Rather than play Russell, the Raiders are apparently considering going with third-stringer Charlie Frye.
Double-ouch.
“I think certainly I’m going to look at what the options are and again as I told you before I’ll do what’s best for this team, what gives us the best chance to win," Cable told reporters today. "Right now, it’s to figure out where Bruce is at here in the next 24-48 hours and then make that decision.”
Russell has vowed that people would notice a difference whenever he gets another shot.
Does Cable believe him?
Not so much.
Well, not really at all.
“You know after looking at it on film, I see some things that are the same," Cable said. "I think that there’s a couple things he did that were good. Again, I’ll look at all that here in the next 24 hours because if we’re heading towards a decision at the quarterback spot, then I pretty much do diligence in all those things and I’ll sit down and look through everything again.”
In other words, Cable really doesn't want to play Russell. And he's hoping somehow that Gradkowski could just tape it up and run out there.
Cable might as well have shouted: "I don't want to play JaMarcus ever again!"
And the whole situation makes one wonder what secretive team owner Al Davis thinks about all this intrigue surrounding the former top overall pick of the draft.
