Cincinnati Bengals flamboyant wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was fined $20,000 by the league office for jokingly breaking out a dollar bill around an official during an instant-replay challenge, according to ESPN.

The NFL apparently didn't have a sense of humor about it, though.

And the league didn't like how Ochocinco used the word, bribe, during postgame interviews.

On video replay, the official seemed to be dismissive of Ochocinco's buck.

"I was just being me," Ochocinco said afterward. "I wasn't going to do it for real."

And now that $1 "bribe" has cost him 20,000 bucks.

God forbid somebody has a sense of humor in the NFL. There might actually be some fun out on the field.

Chad Johnson USUALLY gets on my nerves to no end. In fact the highlight of my season was when he tried to come into Ray Lewis's area four weeks ago. That being said, there's no way he deserves a $20,000 fine for something that was legitimately funny. Find me one person with the slightest desire to watch an NFL game who believes he had malicious intent, and I'll show you Roger Goodell. Does Goodell have to prove he's got the biggest ego in the NFL? Megalomaniac much??

This fines BS just keeps going too far. Obviously antics over a down player is something that should not be allowed, I enjoy the watching good plays and watching the celebration that follows. If it becomes unsportsmanlike, there are refs on the field and a 15 yard penalty can take care of that.

Another in a long series of ridiculous fines. Just curious, where do the hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines go? They should go into the pension fund or to help those suffering from the results of head injuries...or to another good cause.

Well the hand is played, I was waiting to comment on how th eleague acted.

Brandt mentioned someone getting a dollar bill from an owner as part of their meeting on signing a deal. Perhaps that person gets fined 20g for that, and the owner gets fined 20g also?

If not, maybe Johnson has grounds for an appeal.
