The New England Patriots returned to their roots today, signing wide receiver David Patten to a one-year contract.
Patten earned three Super Bowl rings with the Patriots, but was out of football last season after being cut by the Cleveland Browns during training camp.
Patten, 35, is a former undrafted free agent from Western Carolina who once played for the Albany Firebirds before landing with the Patriots.
He caught a touchdown in Super Bowl XXXVI.
For his career, he has registered 324 receptions for 4,715 yards and 24 touchdowns.
