The New England Patriots have locked up nose guard Vince Wilfork on a long-term basis.
The Patriots signed their franchise player to a new five-year, $40 million contract, according to ESPN.
Wilfork received an $18 million signing bonus.
His total guaranteed money is $25 million, per the report.
The Patriots said this is what they wanted to accomplish when they franchised Wilfork. And this deal provides the long-term security for his family that Wilfork was seeking.
"Thanks to everyone who supported us during our time here in New England it has ment a great deal to us," Wilfork wrote on his Twitter account. "With that being said we are pleased to say we will be here for MANY more years to come."

The Pats have finally kept their word on keeping a franchise tasgged employee. Now I know the Pats are going downhill - being on the up and up is not what got the Pats the Team Of The Decade designation.
