Walt Daniels was 66 years old Aaron Wilson
In the wake of San Diego Chargers game-day staffer Walt Daniels falling from the visiting coaches' booth at Qualcomm Stadium on Monday and dying from a severe head injury, questions are being raised about what happened.
According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Daniels' blood alcohol level was well above the California legal limit when he died.
Daniels fell roughly 30 feet roughly three hours before kickoff.
He was initially revived by emergency management technicans, but died after being transported to a local hospital.
Per the San Diego Union-Tribune, two members of the Broncos' broadcast team said that Daniels stumbled before falling out of the booth. Daniels walked with the help of a cane.
Daniels was a former amateur sports official who was on the selection committee at the San Diego Hall of Champions.
Daniels' wife has said that he was scheduled to undergo hip replacement surgery.
"The San Diego Chargers family is greatly saddened by the loss of Walt Daniels,” the team said in a statement. “Walt loved the team and loved working in the press box on game days for more than 20 years. Our prayers are with his family and friends during this most difficult time.”
