When defensive tackle William Joseph rejoined the Oakland Raiders for the third time this year, the AFC West franchise needed to create a roster spot for him.
And veteran offensive guard Paul McQuistan was the unlucky player who lost his job.
The 6-foot-6, 315-pounder from Weber State is a former starter at offensive guard who has also played tackle for the Raiders.
He spent most of last season on injured reserve.
He has played in three games this season.

The last thing we need is to get rid of a back-up line-men... A young one tooo boot! Willam J is NOT a good pick-up,Im so tired of AL bringing in the same garbage we get rid of and no other teams will even consider.. This AL is gonna find a diamond in the rough on draft day BS has to stop,we need to draft GOOD players that will help the team instead of the first 6-7 300 qb to ever be a good qb,a running back that played QB / RB in college with a high pick forgetting his mom is a crack head and brothers are gang bangers, plus he himself has a history.. Get a GM AL,you take way too many chances trying to turn losers into winners.. IT HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE 70S,,,LET IT GO!!!
I have watched ever down Paul MCQuistan has played. I think he will end up on another roster and will be a pretty good starter. This may end up being his lucky day. The Raiders have become notorious for having good young talent but not using it,or wasting it ie Leroy Glover, Kenyon Coleman...Another example is JL Higgins, if they would start him and get him the ball he could be great! Right now they are forcing the development of Heyward-Bay who needs to be on special teams running back kicks like Tim Brown used to do.
