The Oakland Raiders have denied that they've interviewed any potential replacements for coach Tom Cable.

According to the Oakland Tribune, Raiders team owner Al Davis has been fielding calls from coaches seeking jobs.

However, a team official said that Davis hasn't interviewed anyone for the job that Cable still currently holds.

Former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel and former Raiders offensive coordinator Marc Trestman reportedly interviewed for the job, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

"The reports that we've interviewed prospective head coaches are totally untrue, totally false," Raiders senior executive John Herrera said.

Meanwhile, Trestman's representative told the Montreal Gazette that Trestman hasn't heard from the Raiders and wants to stay with the Montreal Alouettes after winning a Grey Cup title last season.

Herrera also denied that Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh had met with the Raiders and turned down them down.

And Fassel said in a Sirius NFL radio interview that he hasn't been in touch with the Raiders.

"No, because, I mean, Tom Cable's the coach," Fassel said. "I think if a coach is in place, you don't start calling somebody and seeing if the job is open or not. Tom Cable is the coach.

"I'm not lobbying for any job. I'm not lobbying for the Raider job. I have never in my life rooted for a coach to be let go so there's an opening. I never have. I'm in the same fraternity. ... Nobody's reached out to me."

After the Bills were turned down by just about everyone but Bugs Bunny I think many of the East Coast media wanted to deflect the humiliation from the Bills.

What better way than start a bunch of BS about the Raiders. If I was as bad at my job as many of these clowns that claim to be reporters are at the jobs they do I would be fired. Where do they find these people?

And tell them to please stop with all the "inside source" BS, I know most do this with regards to the Raiders because they know that the Raiders very seldom come out to correct much of the BS. They were caught with the pants down on this one as PFT is reporting they verified the Raiders claim and it is correct.
