The Baltimore Ravens auditioned four defensive backs Wednesday prior to signing former Indianapolis Colts safety Marcus Paschal to the practice squad.
According to a league source, the Ravens tried out Paschal as well as former San Diego Chargers starting safety Clinton Hart, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers seventh-round pick Hamza Abdullah, who has a previous stint with the Denver Broncos and the Cleveland Browns and former Dallas Cowboys safety and special teams ace Keith Davis as well as Herana-Daze Jones.
Davis also has played for the Miami Dolphins and the Oakland Raiders.
Jones has played for the CIncinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots.
Paschal takes over the practice squad spot created when the Ravens promoted safety K.J. Gerard to the active roster to take the place of safety Haruki Nakamura, who was placed on injured reserve with a broken ankle.
Paschal has a background with Ravens coach John Harbaugh, who coached the Eagles' defensive backs when Paschal played there in 2007.
Paschal was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2007 out of Iowa. He spent time on the active roster when safety Sean Considine was placed on injured reserve.
Released by the Eagles last season and spending last year out of football, Paschal spent the majority of the offseason with the Atlanta Falcons before being cut.
He was only with the Colts for nearly two weeks during the preseason this year.
