OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The NFL isn't going to fine Baltimore Ravens players following their critical comments about the officiating following their 27-21 loss to the New England Patriots.

Middle linebacker Ray Lewis had called the pair of roughing the passer penalties assessed on Baltimore that led to two New England touchdowns an embarrassment to the league, and free safety Ed Reed characterized the officiating as terrible.

"Ray Anderson has determined that the comments did not warrant fines," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello stated in an e-mail.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for critiquing the officials, a rare bench infraction.

Sounds to me like the NFL knows that they did a horrible job on that game. What a bunch of b.s.! Before all the babies in N.E. get on my case for whining about Baltimore losing, let me ask everyone to imagine if those horrible penalties weren't called. Ummm, let's see. Yep, that would have left the Patriots with 4th and long on at least 2 plays instead of field goals or touchdowns that they got when their amazing offense (ummm, by that I mean the refs!!) got them 15 yards and a first down! Even with the b.s. calls, the Ravens almost went into New England's house and showed them up. If only Clayton could catch that last ball!! Unfortunately, that one I can't blame on the refs although it wouldn't have been such a big issue had those terrible calls not happened. Wouldn't surprise me if the cheating scum of the NFL (by that I mean N.E.'s coaching staff) paid the refs off! COME ON PATRIOTS FANS! DOES IT FEEL GOOD TO WIN THIS WAY! Oh that's right, you'll take it how you can get it! Next time this happens, we should send a no name 3rd stringer out to put his knee into Brady's crotch. Oh well, it's only another 15 yard penalty...

If I was a Raven fan (and thank god I'm not), I would be asking myself why my team can't beat NE or Pittsburgh? By the way, the Ravens have NEVER beaten NE, so chew on that SL......that's now 0-5... Wah, wah, wah.... do you think you're the only team that gets bad roughing the passer calls? Check out NE's opening game against the Bills and you can see a bogus call against Wilfork and a questionable one against Thomas. It's just the poor Ravens that are getting screwed...cry me a river.....

Got to agree with SL, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. Officiating was terrible. The officials protected Brady with a vengenace, calling silly touch personals, but on the play where the Ravens LT was injured, the Pats lineman took two steps and drove into Flacco after he threw the ball. How was that not roughing? The officials totally botched the play on the fake kick where they called a motion penalty. The receiver clearly did not make the first down, plus he dropped the ball.

Very disappointing to see a game between two top teams ruined by incompetent officiating.

Hey Sonny, why don't you also think about the fact that your qb got up laughing after one of the roughing calls!?! If you were trully "roughed" you should be laying on the ground getting yourself together, not getting up and laughing! He knew he was taking advantage of the refs. It's not different then soccer players who fake injuries because they screwed up. On both calls, Brady had already screwed up and would have left NE with 4th and long! Maybe you need to ask yourself if NE can actually beat a team without either cheating, or having the ref's as additional players on the field!?! Baltimore plays hard football. God forbid if we put a scratch on Brady's face! Yeh, it would suck laying in bed all season next to a supermodel! I would ask you how you would feel if the calls were the other way around, except that would never happen!! If there is one change that should be made, and I think all the fans would agree to this, I think that a coach should be able to challenge calls like that at least once every half! If you think about it, coaches challenge much lesser things. An inch here, a yard there. How is 15 yards with an automatic first down not challenge worthy!!! All it would take would be a minute and I guarantee both those calls would have been reversed and Sonny L would be bitching about how it's not fair that they challenged those calls because now Brady is crying on the field because he can't make 3rd down conversions. Until then, I'll keep crying my river hoping that one day, Brady falls into it and drowns!

These calls have nothing to do with who's playing. The Pats got several bogus calls against them in the opener against the Bills. It's the league. Fact is, before the game against the Ravens Belichek had told the team that this officiating crew for the past 2 years had lead the league in penalties called and were 2nd so far this year. Maybe the Ravens should have been better prepared. As a friend of mine says, never leave the game in the hands of the refs. Get over it Raven fans. Your team isn't the first and won't be the last to get these calls.

Good Lord SL.... What are you, 12 ??? The refs suck for EVERYONE, not just your beloved Ravens... your coach is just giving his guys an out for losing....

I could sit here talking s**t about NE fans and the team all day. However, I have a pop quiz in my 7th grade English class (joking Sonny L). Long story short, I really think something needs to be done about this. I'm not debating that at some point every team gets bad calls. I'm also not saying the Ravens get it more than other teams. That's for another thread on another day. What I am saying is that this is what went down on Sunday and I think that these types of penalties should be up for coach's challenge. A roughing the passer call can easily look different between when the ref sees it happen and when he see's it on replay. I don't think it's fair that a team can just give up a 15 yard penalty because the QB is a good actor! I don't understand why it would be a problem to allow at least 1 challenge of these calls per half. The coaches would still have the same stipulations. That is to say that if they lose, they lose a time out. You can't just give 15 yard penalties left and right without a second glance especially when you see how it can affect the game! You NE fans can act all high and mighty about this incident but you can't ignore the fact that it's been the top news through the weekend and the week with just about every network and it's broadcasters. Hmmmm.... wonder why that is? Guess everyone is a closet Ravens fan and just doesn't want you to know about it...
