In the wake of general manager George Kokinis' ouster, the Cleveland Browns have reportedly hired former Browns, New York Giants and Baltimore Colts general manager Ernie Accorsi as his replacement.

Although ESPN reported that Accorsi is being sought by team owner Randy Lerner as a consultant, the News-Herald is reporting that Accorsi was hired hours after Kokinis' departure.

Accorsi was the Browns' general manager from 1985 to 1992.

He was the Giants' general manager from 1998 before retiring.

And he was the Colts' general manager during the early 1980s.

Accorsi is known to have a strong bond with former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar, who was recently added by owner Randy Lerner as an "extra set of eyes" with no formal job title.

However this turns out, it looks like Accorsi, a former sportswriter and public relations executive, is going to be involved with a central role.

this is getting so weird...........didn't Ernie recommend George for the job in the first place? So you hire Obi Wan to pick up the pieces young Skywalker left behind?

Do you think Accorsi will try and rescind the trades to the Jets?

Let's hope his first move is finding an NFL caliber coach.

Good but not enough, Mangina needs to be axed after this season, I am sure Lerner brought on Accorsi knowing that he will be the one to cut the cord; however, I really can't see any coach wanting to go to Cleveland...Lerner missed his chance to get McDaniels and now will have to pay Mangina, Crennel, Savage, and Kokinis, plus Accorsi and whatever new coach they bring in...had they had enough foresight, they could have bundled all that money together to give Cowher the 10 mil he commands to return to the game. Oh well, another 3 year rebuilding cycle starts anew for the mistake on the lake.

Bringing in Marty, or Cowher, is all that remains.

If you live in Cleveland you really don't have much going for you these days. Those fans deserve a Front Office and coach qualified to lead an NFL team. Mangini should be a ball boy for the UFL.
