OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- One day after Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was extremely critical of Lambeau Field and the state of Wisconsin after losing to the Green Bay Packers, he issued an apology today on his Twitter account.

“As a man I would like to apologize the fans of Green Bay,” he wrote. “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover and for me to talk about your city was wrong.”

After the game, though, Rice was full of frustration and criticism.

"To be honest with you, it was just Lambeau Field," he said. "I didn't see anything special. They put us in the middle of nowhere and it's not a real exciting place. Everything about this place is terrible, to be honest with you."

The Ravens stayed in a hotel in Appleton, a small town that doesn’t feature a lot of nightlife.

How much night life do you need the night before a huge, important game on national TV?!? These guys worry way too much about clubbing and not enough about earning those huge contracts.

To be honest with you, it was just the Ravens run game. I didn't see anything special. They put out almost no effort and they are not very exciting. Everything about the Ravens run game is terrible, to be honest with you.

At least he apologized, it is not only a lame excuse but, it makes him sound like a moron. Imagine Favre or Rice or Marino saying they had an off day because of the city in which they were playing was nothing special.

Wow, Ray Rice is in his second year and is already a budding primadonna.

Nightlife? The night before a big game? The team flies in, plays, and flies out. Nightlight should be the last thing on their mind. A lousy excuse for not having your head in the game.

First, there was no nightlife because they were here on a Sunday night and most people around here work! Their hotel is surrounded by bars if they would be here on a wed thru sat night. And Appleton is a CITY not a town! You don't sound much better then Ray!!!!!!

Unbelievable comment by a supposed pro athlete.

These pansies should be made to earn their pay check instead of just showing up to play a sport.

For sure it would warm my heart to go see them dig trenches after a game!

I'd bet anyone $100 dollars that says this kid has never had a callous on his hand in his entire life!

The posts above are ridiculous! Give the man a break, he said something after a tough loss and probably didn't think about it when he said it. In saying that, he didn't even say anything offensive. Lambeau is a historic field, but everyone doesn't have to think its a special place to play at. I think it's pathetic that you guys have to drop to a level where you call a man a "primadonna" or a "pansy", just because of a couple of comments that shouldn't even be a big deal. He appologized even though it probably wasn't nescessary. Calling it a terrible place probably wasn't a good move, but everyone makes mistakes. Give him a break......

I agree, Flacco's Flock. The man did apologize, and that should be the end of it. I was disappointed in his comments, but I figured some of it was probably frustration after a tough loss. And I accept that some players don't find Lambeau Field or Green Bay to be anything special, although I believe they would feel differently if they played here. Just ask Charles Woodson; he originally didn't want to come to Green Bay, but now he loves it.

Nice. I am glad to see he was a man, and apologized. I like Ray Rice. I think he spoke with emotion the other night.

The fact of the matter remains that there is very little to do in Appleton. Still, that had almost nothing to do with Lambeau Field itself, its history and the history of the Packers.

I'm sure this has served a great learning experience for RR.

What's really funny about this is that he rips on Green Bay, but plays for.........BALTIMORE! The armpit of the East!

Everybody jumping on ray rice, because he spoke some negative things appleton and lambeau field.Realistically this man has a right to say what he wants, and all you green bay fans need to grow up.Thats life and what was said was said, and why worry about what ray rice said.If you are happy living there, then the hell what other people say.I am from Baltimore, and Baltimore is no special place to live, and it has it's sorry places to and boring places to.

To me, that apology appears about as sincere as O.J.'s pledge to find the real killer.

"As a man"?
When Rice grows up, then I might think about recognizing him as a man.
