While the investigation continues into allegations that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sexually assaulted a female college student, his high-profile lawyer predicted that Roethlisberger won't be charged with any crime.

Attorney Ed Garland told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the NFL star "is completely innocent of any crime."

Garland has previously represented Baltimore Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis and rapper T.I.

"The truth of events will cause this investigation to end without a charge," Garland said. "I'm confident that law enforcement the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the local police and the district attorney will do a thorough evaluation of the facts in this case and that their conclusion will be that no crime was committed."

Police officials said that Roethlisberger and his representation are cooperating with the investigation.

The police said that Roethlisberger and his lawyer have agreed to meet with them and that they plan to meet with roughly eight members of the quarterback's entourage in the next few days.

Roethlisberger has returned to PIttsburgh.

At some point, Roethlisberger may be asked to submit a DNA sample.
