Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday expressed some disappointment that the front office and coaching staff decided to rest starters late in the regular season, a decision that led to the AFC champions not having a shot at an undefeated season.

"The truth is, (the decision) had nothing to do with us," Colts center Jeff Saturday said. "There was nothing we could do about it. I can tell you every player wanted to play, every player tried to play, but that wasn't what our front office and our coach decided. As players you can't look back, because there was no hesitation [in what I would have done].

"I played every game as hard as I could trying to win and you wish you would have won those games. It would have been nice to. But that wasn't our goal. That wasn't their goal. That's how they set it up that's how they decided you have to play for."

Meanwhile, Colts safety Antoine Bethea stuck with the party line of team president Bill Polian and coach Jim Caldwell.

"Our main goal was to win the Super Bowl," Bethea said. "It was never that goal to be undefeated. It was the Super Bowl and we're here and we have one more game to get the job done. Of course it would be historic in being the first team to go 19-0, but the main goal is to be champs and that's what we still have a chance to be."

Saturday never wanted to take a Sunday off. You win on Super Sunday, it lasts forever! This was a way of seeing to that possibility. A legit trophy hoisting is better than being sixtten and NO!
