Cornerback joins Ravens Aaron Wilson
OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens have signed cornerback Cary Williams to their active roster off the Tennessee Titans' practice squad, according to a league source.
The Ravens needed a cornerback with Fabian Washington to be placed on injured reserve today due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The Ravens are expected to start rookie third-round draft pick Lardarius Webb, who has been impressive in a backup role and as the team's kickoff returner, opposite Domonique Foxworth on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Williams was drafted in the seventh round by the Titans last year out of Washburn.
A transfer from Fordham, Williams intercepted seven passes as a senior and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. He's the only player in Washburn school history to score on an interception, kickoff returner and a reception during the same season.
Williams has 4.43 speed in the 40-yard dash.
He spent the majority of last season on the Titans' practice squad before being promoted to the active roster and was later placed on injured reserve.
Williams was up and down between the Titans' active roster and practice squad this season.
