It's fairly obvious that safety Ryan Clark won't play in Monday night's road game against the Denver Broncos due to his rare blood condition that endangered his life years ago in the thin Denver air.

However, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't willing to officially rule him out prior to kickoff. That's probably for strategic reasons even though it's clear that Clark won't be playing opposite Troy Polamalu this game.

Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers don't plan to release any official confirmation of Clark's status.

Clark seems resigned to the fact that he won't be playing due to serious health concerns linked to his rare sickle-cell trait..

"This is not about me," Clark said. "It's two good teams playing on Monday. Whether I play or not, the game is going to go on, and that's what I do know. They won't stop the game if I don't play.

"I just want to deal with it and get it over with. I can honestly say, I'll be happy Tuesday morning to get back to a regular life."
