The New England Patriots have placed rookie wide receiver Brandon Tate on injured reserve, ending his season.
Tate was activated from the physically unable to perform list last month.
The third-round draft pick from North Carolina caught no passes, rushing once for 11 yards.
The Patriots are using Tate's roster spot to promote Isaiah Stanback from the practice squad.
Stanback is a former University of Washington quarterback that the Dallas Cowboys moved to wide receiver when they drafted him in the fourth round in 2007.
