Newly-minted Denver Broncos cornerback Ty Law is eager to get started after missing nearly half the season.

Signed Saturday to a one-year, $800,000 contract, Law hopes to make his debut with his new team Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"They're trying to get me ready to play this week in a limited fashion," Law said today. "I did it last year. ..

"I'm just going to kind of wing it and go out and do the best I can. But right now they're just shoving a lot down my throat because the terminology is totally different."

There's a precedent for getting acclimated quickly for Law.

Last season, the 35-year-old signed with the New York Jets at the midway point of the season. He wound up playing days later against the New England Patriots.

Law said he's in good shape and ready to go.

Law should fit in well with the Broncos given his background in New England with coach Josh McDaniels. Plus, he won't be the only older player in a secondary that also features Champ Baiey and Brian Dawkins.

"It's different between walking into a situation where you've got a bunch of young guys, a bunch of first- and second-year guys," Law said. "This is perfect. I can take my time and learn the system because it's already established and all I'm doing is trying to help."
