Young maintains close ties with his mentor's family Aaron Wilson
Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young has fulfilled the promise he made to Steve McNair's family at his funeral last summer.
When Young said he wanted to look after McNair's sons, those weren't empty words.
Young has maintained close ties to McNair's children, bringing them to the Pro Bowl along with the former NFL quarterback's widow, attending father-son breakfasts and school functions and hosting the family at Titans games.
Young brought Trenton, 11, and Tyler, 5, to the Pro Bowl. And he made sure they had a good time.
"The thing is, Steve would do the same for me," Young told the Associated Press. "Sometimes we just hang out. They come to my house. We hang out together, sit around, laugh and joke and do different things. Can't do everything all at once. I'm just happy to see these guys are growing up, growing into young men, things like that. The biggest thing is, whatever we can do to help take their mind off things, that's what we definitely should do."
"I just want to keep everything they have going. I want them to understand that big brother hasn't forgotten about them and I don't want them always sitting around the house, things like that. I want them to have an opportunity to come out here and have some fun as well. ... They were smiling. That's a good thing."
