Perhaps Tennessee Titans venerable owner Bud Adams knows his football and his quarterbacks.

Adams' confidence in quarterback Vince Young, whom he instructed coach Jeff Fisher to start over Kerry Collins following a winless six games, was borne out during the Titans' win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"I told him he played like I thought he could play," Adams said afterward. "I see him having a great future with us here."

Just over a year ago, Young was booed while being carted off the field.

Now, he's suddently the toast of Tennessee again. At least for a day.

"It felt good,' Young said. "It was a great feeling to be back playing with my teammates.'

Young didn't do as much as running back Chris Johnson, who generated a franchise-record 228 rushing yards with two long touchdown runs.

Still, he contributed a lot with 15 of 18 accuracy for 125 yards while rushing for another 30 yards.

"I tell you, he looked all right out there," Adams said.

Added safety Michael Griffin: "He played the type of football I was used to seeing at Texas, and the way he played as a rookie. He looked like the same Vince everybody loved watching playing so much. If he continues to prepare like he did this week and shows that winning attitude that he has, the sky is the limit for him."

Adams readily acknowledged that he pulled rank on his coach.

"It was something I had to get involved in," Adams said. "We had to turn something around. It was not going very good this year."

Toast of Tennessee??? Nah. I think you're getting carried away. The Toast of Tennessee is the Bruce Pearl/Lane Kiffin combo in Knoxville.

Vince played pretty well, but let's not go overboard. I was there, and I can tell you what the majority of fans were saying as we made the long trek from LP to the parking garage after the game. It wasn't "YAY! Vince Young is awesome! I knew he could do it!!"

It was more like: "Glad we won. CJ is awesome!! Let's see if Vince can do it two games in a row".

Hardly the Toast of Tennessee.
