Completing an unlikely ascent after riding the bench for the first seven weeks of the regular season, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was named to the AFC Pro Bowl squad today.
He replace injured San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.
'I was working out when Coach [Jeff] Fisher called me and told me the news this afternoon," Young said in a statement. "I was very excited to find out that I'm getting a chance to go play in the Pro Bowl. Thanks to all my teammates, coaches and fans that have supported me."
Instead of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Philip Rivers representing the AFC, it's Young and Matt Schaub in the game since Brady, Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger have pulled out of the game.
It's unclear who's the fourth alternate that might be needed if Manning isn't able to participate if the top-seeded Indianapolis Colts advance to the Super Bowl.
