It was a costly collision for hard-hitting San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle.
Weddle was fined $7,500 by the league office with vice president of football operations Ray Anderson handing down the punishment, which stems from a helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Giants tight end Kevin Boss, according to a league source close to the situation.
It wasn't immediately clear if Weddle planned to appeal the fine.
The Chargers wound up winning the game, 21-20.
