Will embattled Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable survive his latest controversy?
It's a fair question to consider.
Raiders owner Al Davis is tolerant of many things, including a long tradition of losing reinforced by this 2-6 campaign orchestrated by Cable and struggling quarterback JaMarcus Russell, among others.
However, Cable escaping indictment following assistant coach Randy Hanson's allegations that the coach assaulte him are now followed by domestic violence accusations.
A history of violence against women is nothing an NFL team wants to be associated with.
The Raiders have standards.
And this is another black eye against the Raiders' reputation.
A pattern is developing here with Cable, and it's beginning to look like the pattern of a coach that will eventually be dismissed for his behavior as much as his win-loss record.
It's hard to say what kind of head coaching candidate Davis might be able to attract during yet another hiring cycle.
This time, though, a serious background check needs to be conducted.
It's unclear if the Raiders performed their due diligence on Cable, but it's extremely unlikely that they were aware or informed of all of these past allegations.
If they were, you would like to think that it might have given them pause before giving Cable the job.

Sad, but true, that Mr. Davis is drowning in his "image". The "just win baby " left too much room for drug altered psychos to ply the trade. I have a soft spot in my heart for Mr. Cable. In a way, he is a product of a life that many of us have shared. I sense an emerging good man in him that I would welcome as a coach. Maybe there is something to looking at self before casting stones.
"Will Cable survive latest controversy?" Says FOX News.....
The man has faith and believes in a team that goes and lays an egg on Sunday week in and week out, he doesn't deserve this.
It's easy to say someone stinks when they don't have much to work with... Bill Callahan stinks to but the team went to the Superbowl that year with him as head coach..
If the Raiders terminate Cable, they will just promote another assistant to head coach, you can bet on that. When they tried to find a replacement for Kiffin nobody from outside the organization wanted the job. It will only be more difficult this time around, if the situation even happens.

"It's hard to say what kind of head coaching candidate Davis might be able to attract during yet another hiring cycle."
I'm sorry, but this is almost an exact quote from the Steve Zaban show this morning, Aaron.
If you read the court divorce documents, including the dates, you would see this is far from a "pattern" or a "history". The Raiders do stink. Cable stinks and Al Davis is not so far behind, but this reporting doesn't smell so hot either.
