Wisconsin’s Schofield suffers injury at Senior Bowl practice

O’Brien Schofield, the Wisconsin defensive end considered a better fit at outside linebacker at the next level, appeared to have suffered a serious leg injury today at Senior Bowl practice in Mobile, Alabama.

According to the NFP’s Wes Bunting and Joe Fortenbaugh, who are on the ground in Mobile, Schofield was participating in the “pit drill,” featuring one-on-ones between offensive and defensive linemen from the North team.

Early in practice, Schofield was lined up against Vladimir Ducasse, an offensive line prospect from Massachusetts, when the two became entangled and Schofield went down, landing awkwardly on his left leg. He remained down for awhile before hobbling off the field with help from two trainers, and putting most of the pressure on his right leg.

He did not return to practice, and early speculation is that the injury is serious.

Schofield was named defensive MVP of the East-West Shrine game this past Saturday in Orlando after recording three solo tackles and an interception for the victorious East team. He played outside linebacker in the contest, which is the position he is projected to play in the NFL.
