The Chicago Bears didn’t wow their fans with the wide receiver everyone has been seeking in free agency, but they did make a move.

On the third day of business, the Bears landed their first unrestricted free agent, agreeing to terms with punter Adam Podlesh on a contract. It’s a five-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Podlesh, who was a Pro Bowl alternate last season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, figures to replace Brad Maynard, whose 10-year run with the Bears ended when they informed him he wouldn’t be back.

Punter was one of the holes the club needed to fill. Now, the Bears have to sign a strong-side linebacker and it’s believed general manager Jerry Angelo will target an offensive lineman, defensive lineman and, yeah, a receiver.
