Bills' Jairus Byrd signs $6.9 million franchise tender

Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl free safety Jairus Byrd has signed his $6.9 million one-year franchise tender.

Byd will report to training camp Wednesday, according to the AFC East club.

Because Byrd was an unsigned franchise player, he wasn't required to report to training camp under NFL collective bargaining rules governing franchise players.

The Bills aren't allowed to negotiate a long-term deal with Byrd until after the season, but can't strike a deal at this time under the rules.

Byrd intercepted five passes last season and was named to his second Pro Bowl.
