This is a very unfair method of business for the coaches, as well as unfair to the organization. Too often is the case that some of the staff can coach talent, but not evaluate talent. Not everyone can indentify and project talent in the draft.
Whenever I watch the Bengals play, I am reminded of how many games they have lost because of their lack of a demanding, physical, offseason program. They struggle when they face physical teams.
The above sequence is interesting, because at 2:10 the Eagles had a run pass option before the two minute warning and might have been able to get a first down. The incomplete pass on third down is a huge mistake, as it stops the clock for the Bengals and does not force them to use their time outs.
The TIE in Cincinnati was like a loss to the Eagles, and no matter how Andy Reid tries to spin this one, it is going to be an interesting offseason in Philadelphia. Trading out of the first round two years in a row tells the fans you are a talented team, not a 500 team.
The NFL’s top two rushing teams over the past five seasons will meet in Week 11 when Atlanta hosts Denver. Since 2004, the Falcons rank first in the category with 11,097 rush yards (152.0 per game). Denver ranks second with 9,946 yards (136.2 per game).
Flowing from our tap today is the New York Jets. And do they have a complicated history of drafting. Let’s go back to 1980, when I first experienced the draft in person.
At age 39, it’s hard to get back and play on a short week. It’s a good thing the Jets killed the Rams and got Favre some rest this past Sunday. Wind might play a factor in this one, and the last time Favre was cold (Green Bay/NY Giants) did not work out well for him.
The accountability of the others who were helping Mike build this team is staggering. And each time I hear Singletary say he wants a tough team made of winners, I wonder if was he saying those same things in all the personnel meetings?
The Titans were held to 20 rushing yards on 29 attempts (0.7 yards per rush). Their 20 rushing yards is the 3rd fewest in franchise history (fewest ever in a win) and the fewest by the Titans/Oilers since rushing for 19 yards in 1965 against San Diego.
Since 2000, 20 teams have reached the halfway point of the season with a .500 or below winning percentage and made the playoffs. This includes at least one team in each season.
