The National Football Post has learned that free-agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the Cincinnati Bengals are close to reaching an agreement on a new contract. It’s believed there’s 70-percent chance Houshmandzadeh returns to Cincinnati next season, sources said.

An eight-year veteran, Houshmandzadeh caught 92 passes for 904 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games last season.

More on this story as it develops.

Can you guys put a name on these reports? It seems weird to hide behind "NFP"

Michael-

Get real dude. If anyone gives up their sources they will never break a story again...

Go rent "All the President's Men" and come back after you watch it with some common sense.

I don't want their sources named of course. I want to know the author of the article. There's a reason any breaking news report, sport or otherwise, has a byline. I guarantee once NFP gets used to this journalism thing they will do the same.

Why is it weird to hide behind NFP? ESPN/SI/Whoever you want always "hides" behind their name when it comes to sources, as they rightfully should. At the same time, does it matter who the source is? I hope NFP has enough integrity to only post rumors that they themselves believe to be accurate enough to warrant putting it on their site, and not just some rumor conjured out of thin air.

I'm love the 70% comment. Is that fairly certain he will resign or more than likely?

Why in god's name would TJ stay in that sh*t-hole?

TJ: "Hmm, I'm going to be a FA for the first time, and I know good contending teams like the Eagles and Giants will be hot for me, but you know what? I'm going to take less money to stay with a terrible team that isn't going to get any better under it's cheap@$$ owner."

Who is his agent??

Believe me - I love everything NFP has been doing. in the long run, though, the reader just has to know whether it's Lombardi, Bowen, Brandt, whoever on a specific report for credibility. Just like ESPN has to say whether it's Mort or Michael Smith. Or any other site. If you are confident enough to print it, put your name on it.

Why would they want to blow money on this guy when they are already paying Chad Johnson a pile and they have Chris Henry on the bench. This has got to be the worst organization in football. Yes, worse than Detroit.

A couple of you guys here need to wise up and show some respect to the only site besides NFL.com which provides actual information from from "friends" within the business - As opposed to regurgitating things you hear from the internet wannabes like rotoworld etc. - Now this (signing) may or may not happen, but you can bet the info is coming from a legit source.
