Sources close to the National Football Post have informed us that the New York Giants and quarterback Eli Manning are very close to finalizing a new contract that will make him one of the highest paid players in the NFL, as well as the highest paid Giant. A few more details need to be ironed out and barring any last minute stumbling blocks, expect a formal announcement next week.
More on this story as it develops.
This still could help them table money to keep other players on the roster, on how it is structured.
A side effect or value added benefit could be in keeping other players well paid from this group. Maybe this shapes Plaxico's return.
8yr/$120MM?
every other site I use has said that this posting is FALSE...

Dude, I don't know who your "sources" are, but two major newspapers that actually follow the Giants are disputing your report, saying that the two sides aren't close. You're seriously hurting your credibility by throwing this crap against the wall, brother.
wow. the guys at rotoworld are throwing NFP under the bus on this one. what's the cryptic meaning behind the "especially on Giants issues" portion of this excerpt from roto's site? "We trust Garafolo more than NFP, especially on Giants issues."
It's definitely going to mirror Roethlisbereger's 8 year $102M deal. Give or take a few million.
I don't get it. Eli is a good game manager but hardly a clutch go-to-guy.
This year's collapse post-plaxico shows Eli doesn't have the goods to lead the team over the hump.
2 minute drill, 4th quarter, down by 5, who do you want as your $15M QB? Brady, Peyton, Warner, Big Ben, Brees, heck even Rivers but Eli?
First off, Peyton: After last year's SB win along with several fourth quarter comebacks, I would take Eli over Ben, Brees and Rivers. Eli has done it on the biggest possible stage at the most important time. He is above reproach in the "clutch go-to-guy" catagory. Now, if you'd like to make the "clutch, go-to-guy-in-a-windy-enviroment" argument, I might have less to say.
As far as other people ripping this site, it doesn't bother me at all or shake my confidence in the things I read here. This year, NFP has become my go to site for all things NFL.
Prediction for today:
AZ 31 PIT 17...MVP Bolden
I bet the Post is right....just watch
"In Post We Trust"
engrave it
everybody threw The Post under the bus when they were the only ones who knew and printed Peyton Manning had a second operation in the off season.

How much more does he get over Roethlisberger's 8-year, $102 million deal?
I'd be real curious how those two compare.
