After being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier today, former Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Jason Peters and his agent, Eugene Parker, didn’t waste any time locking down a brand new contract.

According to a league source close to the negotiations, Peters and the Eagles have agreed to a six-year deal that, with incentives, could be worth up to $60 million.  Peters is scheduled to make $24 million in guaranteed money.

This agreement comes just hours after Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the Bills had reached a deal in principle to send the disgruntled two-time Pro Bowl left tackle to Philadelphia in exchange for a 2009 first-round draft pick from the Eagles (#28 overall) and two undisclosed picks.

As the National Football Post reported earlier, the other draft picks Philly sent to the Bills were a fourth-round selection in this year's draft and a sixth-round pick in 2010.

Good move for the Bills. This guy was a washout last year because he wanted the mega contract and sulked his way through a lengthy holdout.

When he got back he truly sucked and he nearly got Edwards AND Losman killed last season. With a full training camp, he's a really good LT, so Eagles fans will be happy, but his time in Buffalo was done.

Despite the fact that he has history there is no guarantee that he will play at a high level now that he has his money. If he returns to his Pro Bowl form, both teams win. If not the Eagles got hosed. I am hoping for the former.

With LT now taken care of ...looks like Wells / Moreno / Pettegrew are now the undisputed prime targets with their #21 pick .

Good move Birds. The O-Line, the major concern of the offseason (yes even more than WR and Boldin-Mania), has now been solidified. Peters, Herremans, J.Jackson, and the Andrews Brothers really looks like a big bad unit. Of course that means Peters has to play up to his billing and the Andrews Bros have to be healthy but if they do I see no reason they can't gel and be a dominant group. Very good move considering the Eagles have to face that Giants front-7 plus the likes of Demarcus Ware and Albert Haynesworth.

This move is a classic example of why it is so painful to be a Bills fan.
The entire organization lacks leadership and vision and for that matter a pulse. The building blocks of any team are the QB and the LT position. Buffalo, while lacking talent just about everywhere else has a young all pro tackle in Peters. He is their most valuable player. That the Bills couldn't find away to satisfy their most valuable player and instead choose to lavish extravagant contracts on average to below average o-lineman in Dockery and Walker two years ago shows their complete incompetence.
This is what happens when you put a boy marketing intern in charge of an NFL franchise. Russ Brandon is in over his head and has continually been schooled by agents since taking over.
What an utter disgrace. Do you want to know how I really feel about this?

Peters will cut his sacks numbers well in half.
1)McNabb is hugely mobile
2)The Eagles throw a ton of WCO quicks

Also McNabb is tough and sturdy to cover any learn curve an established veteran tackle would need.

THEY ARE HUGE. Andrews Bros and Peters = The Moving Company

Bet you they can run for a yard on 4th and one this year....

I think the Eagles got hosed. a 1st, a 4th and a 6th plus a massive cap hit and $24 million in guarantees?

Trading multiple picks for a LT who is not as good as the 2 PB credentials indicate is a big risk.

The Bills, on the other hand, made a very good deal. Peters held out last year - do they want to go through that again? - and is not as good as his contract demands, in my view.

Multiple 1st round picks give the Bills a great deal of flexibility and there are some good OT's in this draft.

The eagles did get hosed.

This guy is overrated.

Peters overrated? As someone who has watched every game he has played in preseason and the pros(heck, even his first practice at tight end)I don't think he has reached his potential yet.
I'll go with Andy Reids judgement on this one over the Bills boy GM who is a marketing kid, not a talent evaluator.

Jason Peters is the best left tackle in football,” Eagles coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “He is a powerful and athletic tackle and I have admired his play over the last few years on film. “I have always believed that success in the National Football League is derived from the strong play of the offensive and defensive lines.
The Bills apparently don't have the same belief about what it takes to succeed in the NFL as they currently only have 2 offensive lineman on their roster who were regular starters on any team in the NFL last year.
Which philosophy do you believe in? The Eagles or the Bills?
Which team IS successful? Which has been one of the worst teams in the NFL the last decade?

The Eagles could have used those same picks to trade up and get Andre Smith or Oher in the draft. Obviously, they thought Peters was better than either of those guys, and this way they don't have to weat out the draft and the potential to not be able to pull the trade off, not to mention the risk of the pick being a bust. Right move for the Eagles, but not bad for the Bills either. It is not a philosophy issue, but dealing with a discruntled, problem player who wants out. The Bills got good value for Peters.

Mr. Murder, maybe the Eagles can get a yard on 4th and one, but it would still help if they had a big back to give th ball to in those situations. Right now their best short yardage back is Mc Nabb.
