Brian Urlacher calls Tim Tebow 'a good running back'

The Chicago Bears found all out just what Tebow Time is all about on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The Bears were just a little more than two minute away from handing the Denver Broncos their first home shutout in their 52 seasons of existence before they got done in. Tebow directed a touchdown drive and then set kicker Matt Prater up in position to hit a 59-yard field goal that forced over time. The Broncos prevailed 13-10 in overtime, their sixth consecutive victory with Tebow as the starter.

The quarterback was wildly ineffective through the first three quarters of the game. Tebow was 3 for 16 for 45 yards through the first three quarters. After that? He completed 18 of 24 passes for 191 yards and a 10-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas.

What did the Bears think afterward?

“He's a good running back, man,” Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher said. “He runs the ball well. They have a good offense. They do some different plays we don't see. I thought we did a good job overall defending the unusual plays.”

Tebow carried 12 times for 47 yards, including a 16-yard scramble on a third-and-15 play. But seriously?

“He's a good running back,” Urlacher repeated. “He does a good job running for them.”

It’s a little surprising someone with Urlacher’s experience and usual respect for the game would respond in such a way, especially after Tebow picked his way through the defense in the closing minutes.
