Browns quarterback Josh McCown broke his collarbone, out for season
Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown is out for the season with a broken collarbone.
McCown will be replaced by Johnny Manziel or Austin Davis.
"Worst possible scenario for Josh,'' Browns coach Mike Pettine said. "It was not displaced so he does not need to have surgery, but it'll take more than the rest of the season to get it healed up.''
McCown went 1-7 as the starter.
"That's very unfortunate,'' Pettine said. "Josh means a lot to this team, whether it was in the locker room, practice field or gameday. Just the positive energy that he exuded, the leadership, I just cannot say enough positive things about Josh McCown and what he has done for this football team and what he means to this football team.''
Pettine made no announcement about who will start at quarterback.
"As far as the quarterback situation is concerned, I'm not ready to announce that,'' Pettine said. "I have a series of meetings scheduled. We're going to discuss it more and determine our best course of action moving forward. We're going to take everything into consideration and then make a decision for this week that is best for the team."
