Bucs Interested In Trading For Bush

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made headlines Friday morning when it traded for Cleveland tight end Kellen Winslow, but that might not be the only trade the Bucs pull off this offseason.

Multiple league sources have told PewterReport.com that the Bucs are interested in acquiring Oakland running back Michael Bush via a trade. The Raiders have been shopping Bush around to several teams, not just the Bucs.

Tampa Bay is in the market for a running back after releasing RB Warrick Dunn on Thursday and because of the unknown future of former first-round pick Cadillac Williams, who is recovering from his second major knee injury in as many seasons.

Bush, 24, originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick out of Louisville. However, he is no stranger to knee injuries. Bush suffered a devastating one at Louisville and missed his entire rookie season with the Raiders because of it.

But Bush bounced back and proved to be healthy in 2008. He carried the ball 95 times for 421 yards (4.4 avg.) and three touchdowns behind Darren McFadden and Justin Fargas.

Bucs fans are all too familiar with Bush, who ripped off 177 rushing yards on 27 carries (6.6 avg.) and two touchdowns in Tampa Bay's season-ending loss to Oakland in 2008.

The 6-foot, 240-pound Bush has a nice blend of size and speed. He also has reliable hands as a receiver. He caught 19 passes for 162 yards in 2008.

Bush, who has two years remaining on his rookie contract, showed some versatility by playing some fullback for the Raiders in '08. He also has played in a zone blocking scheme, which is what new Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski is implementing in Tampa Bay.
